IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT 2009-2010 FALL SEMESTER REGISTRATIONS

- All students should do the registration by themselves; no advisor should approve the registration of a student that is not personally present in his/her office.

- Course schedules will be publicized on the web intranet area on our website – Main Page.

- The courses given in sections should be followed in the proper section assigned. A list indicating the formation of sections announced (please check the link below) to students, and also be given to advisors.

- All students who are going to graduate by the end of 2009-2010 Fall or Spring Semester, should be recorded down by their advisors, and the list of such students should be given to Registrar's Office by the end of registration period. The registrar will check the transcripts of such students after registrations, and students will be warned to fulfill any obligation that is missing for graduation before the “add/drop” period.

-The list of courses to be taken by regular students in each level will also be supplied to each advisor.

- The students and advisors should be careful in indicating the category (Must course, Elective course, Non Departmental Elective course, Technical Elective course, Free Elective, Restricted Elective, etc.) of any course registered. If not, then big difficulties arise when the specific course is to be repeated, or when checking the graduation confirmation. If any course taken in NI (not included) status, then there is no way that this course be accepted as a credit course in the program which the related student is registered.

- A list of TE (Technical Electives), E (Program Electives) is announced at the address as http://www.ncc.metu.edu.tr/studaffairs/fall_ELECTIVES.htm . Any 3 credit course can be taken as a FE (Free Elective) course. A list of RE (Restricted Elective) courses and some NTE (Non-technical Elective) courses will also be given to advisors. Engineering students take NTE courses. These courses have to be outside the Engineering field and should be in the areas of social sciences, humanities (Biology, statistics, any math courses of social sciences can not be taken as NTE). A detailed info note about electives can be found in the web pages for online registrations

- PSIR, BUS, ECO students have about 14 Electives. According to our regulations, at least half of the Electives should be from the respective program. For the remaining maximum 6-7 Electives, students can take at most 3 free electives approved by their advisors (Language courses, math courses, etc). The remaining at most 3-4 electives should be from one of the above programs (ECO, PSR, BUS) listed. PSYC and TEFL students have departmental electives and should consult their Academic Advisors.

- The schedule for FRN/GRM courses is not announced. We will announce a date and time in the first week of classes where all students willing to take the course can meet with the instructors to fix an appropriate schedule that suits to most students and to instructor concerned. These courses are not offered to 1st year students.

- As known, all TURKISH SPEAKING students take TUR-101, 102 as a two hour non-credit compulsory course in their 1st or 2nd year, whereas all remaining international students take TUR-201,202 as a four hour non credit compulsory course. Those who take TUR-101,102 also take HST-201,202 as a two hour non- credit course in the following years. All international students who enroll in TUR 201/202 should take HST 205/206. The earlier, the better so that you do not face with an unexpected, undesired situation just before graduation. For Fall Semester 2009-2010, schedule of HST 205 will be formed after the first meeting of students and the course instructor.

-Students with CGPA under 1.80 can not register to new courses with credit, but may take new “non-credit” courses.

- Students who did not pass CNG 100 course in the previous semesters may register to exemption examination which will be on the 26th (Or both 26th and 27th ) of September 2009 and application details  about the exam will be announced to students on 23rd of September 2009
