TRANSFER QUOTAS
A) GENERAL QUOTA
General quota is for successful students from both
METU and other universities. Their current program and the program they apply
must be equivalent. This quota includes all students fulfilling the criteria
and whose nationality are Turkish (TR) or Turkish Cypriot (TRNC).
B) METU SPECIAL QUOTA
This quota is for METU students who cannot apply for
General Quota due to academic insufficiency and/or disability to fulfill the
requirements of the program. The purpose of this quota is to allow students
already enrolled to a program in METU to change their area of study in case
that they find out the program they are in, is not suitable to their abilities.
A) REQUIREMENTS
FOR GENERAL QUOTA
Students applying for General
Quota must:
- Be registered as a student in an equivalent Higher Education
Institution,
- Have completed at
least two semesters (excluding Prep. School) in their current program,
- Fulfill the minimum
ÖSS score criteria required and announced by the related program,
- Have satisfactorily
completed all the courses belonging to the present and past
semesters of their current program (For METU, minimum DD from credit
courses, and S from non-credit courses is obligatory. Those who have not
taken all offered courses, and those who have failed from anyone of the
courses (For METU, FF, FD, NA, U, I, W) will not be allowed to apply.
- Have a minimum
cumulative grade point average of 2.50 out of 4.00, or 70 out of 100.
- Fulfill
other criteria of the relevant department such as interview,
portfolio, etc…
CONDITIONS OF OSS AND EQUIVALENT EXAM
SCORES
- Students who hold TR or TRNC nationality have to apply with their
OSS scores.
- The score type of
ÖSS which will be taken into account in transfer is the score type of the
program to which the student applies. Therefore, during the evaluation,
among the ÖSS score types of the applicant which he/she took during the
entrance to the university, the relevant one is taken into account.
- International
students (applying to METU General Quota) from Higher Education
Institutions in Turkey must submit their exam results (YÖS, TCS, SAT,
etc…) which they used in entrance to their current universities.
B) REQUIREMENTS FOR METU SPECIAL QUOTA
Students applying for METU Special
Quota must fullfill the following :
- The exam score of the applicant (ÖSS, YÖS, TCS) in the year which
he/she registred to the current program must be higher than the minimum
General Quota score of that department being applied corresponding to that
particular year,.
- The student must be
registered in an undergraduate program in METU, and must not be in
“Dismiss” status (whatever the reason be) when applying,
- The student must
have completed at least two semester in undergraduate program(excluding
prep school),
- The student must
have satisfactorily completed all the credited courses of the program
he/she is currently enrolled(at least DD or higher).
- The student must
have a CGPA of 1.25/ 4.00 or higher ,
- Fulfill other
criteria of the relevant department applied such as interview, portfolio,
etc… (Some departments might have extra criteria for application)
- Students who apply
to Teaching English as a foreign Language must have got minimum BB from
ENGL-101 and ENGL- 102 courses.
- Students who apply
to Business Administration must have got minimum CC from ENGL- 101 and
ENGL-102 courses.
Students apply for METU International Students Special
Quota from Abroad must:
This is for
successful international students (those whose nationality is not TR and/or
TRNC) studying in an equivalent higher education institution and program in a
foreign country. This quota includes international students who do not have
exam results such as YÖS, TCS, etc… which are necessary for General Quota.
- Be registered as a student in an equivalent Higher Education
Institution during the application.
- Have completed at
least two in their current undergraduate program
- Have satisfactorily
completed all the courses taken in the current program.
- Have a minimum
cumulative grade point average of 2.50 out of 4 (or its equivalent if the
grading system is different)
- Fulfill the other
criteria of the relevant department such as interview, portfolio,
etc… (Some departments have extra criteria for application)

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR
APPLICATION
Required documents must be submitted until the
mentioned deadline. Lacking and late documents are not evaluated.
i.
Transcript: The official document which shows all the
courses and grades taken in the previous institution. (Copy is not accepted)
ii. The Exam Result Certificate which the student
submitted during the entrance to the university. (*)
iii. Relevant pages from Catalogue: For the
applications from other universities, students must submit the attested copy of
the relevant pages of their university catalogue (course content, information
on department, etc…)
iv. Application Form: It can be obtained
from METU NCC Registrar’s Office or the relevant web page. Students who apply
for more than one program should submit one separate form for each program
being applied . Required documents will be submitted separately for each program
and application fee should also be paid for each program.

v. Application Fee*: A
non-refundable application fee of $ 60 is required. Payments may be made by
cashiers check, money order or bank draft, payable to MIDDLE EAST TECHNICAL
UNIVERSITY NORTHERN CYPRUS CAMPUS. The name of the applicant should be clearly
written. DO NOT SEND CASH. Payments also may be made in person to one of the
branch banks on METU NCC Campus. Payment can be made to the following bank

Receipts should be attached to application forms.
*ÖSYS exam result certificate and
transcript of METU students are attached by the Registrar’s Office.
APPLICATION DEADLINE
Applications will start by June 2nd, 2008 and will be
submitted to the University (Registrar’s Office) by hand or post until July
18th, 2008. Files with Incomplete/Lacking documents are not accepted. Delay in
post is not taken into account. Those whose applications are not evaluated due
to lacking documents or another reason will not be informed back. In such a
situation, application fee(s) and documents will not be given back to the
student.
(Considering delivery conditions from
abroad, fax transmission of the documents will be accepted to start formalities
until the receipt of originals through mail (post) or courier.)
Applicants wishing to be considered for more than one
program must send an application form and an application fee for EACH program
being applied to. Applicants who do apply for more than one program should note
in the appropriate space on the application form, the order of preference, i.e.
the program of first preference, of second preference, etc. After specifying
the programs they want to apply on the forms, they should take one copy of the
form for each program and add the required documents to each application. They
should also pay separate application fees for each application.

admission to the current university (for the applicants who study in a Turkish
University)
GENERAL
INFORMATION
RESULTS, will be announced around 02.09. 2008
(on this web page). Written notification will not be made to the students due
to limited time. Documents or application fee of the students who were rejected
will not be given back.
ANNUAL TUITION FEES
The annual tuition of 2008-2009 Academic Year for international students is 7200
US Dollars.
FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE ACCEPTED:
* The Administrative Committee of the university will decide on the number of
semesters an accepted student will be considered as have had completed
depending on the number of courses the student is exempted (General
Quota students; Group –A ).
* Students who are exempted from the courses without credit (with EX grade)
will not have this courses counted in their CGPA calculations,
* Students should not apply for course exemption before being accepted to
their new program,
* The period that students have spent in their previous program will be counted
in their total duration of study (METU Special Quota students-Group –B).
