METU
Northern Cyprus Campus
STRATEGIC
PLANNING PROCESS
MARCH 29th
2008 SWOT ANALYSIS WORKSHOP
METU-NCC
completed its SWOT analysis, another step of the strategic planning process, on
March 29, 2008.
The METU-NCC
Strategic Planning Process, whose aim is to determine the development
directions of the campus and application plans for the period between 2008 –
2013, has been started. In the first step of this process, which is “Stakeholder
Analysis”, the aim was to determine to what extent METU NCC has realized its
“Visions” and the related “Performance Areas” and to determine the relative priority
of the activities planned for the period between 2008-2013, by inquiring among
various stakeholder groups. In that step of the process, an evaluation of data
collected from 587 stakeholders from different groups through a questionnaire
aiming at validating METU-NCC’s vision statement has been carried out. After
that step, on March 29, 2008, with the contribution of 43 stakeholders chosen
from different stakeholder groups, a SWOT analysis workshop was done at METU
NCC. At the end of this extremely beneficial 6-hour-workshop, the participants,
considering internal and external factors, provided us with very important
input for the development of strategies to get benefited from the fields where
we are currently strong and the existing opportunities at maximum level, and to
minimize the effects of possible threats and the fields which are open to improvement.
In addition to this, the relationship between METU-NCC Vision and SWOT Analysis
was inquired. In the next step, with a small group of experts, the connections
among the items in the field of broad horizon will be examined and if there are
any, the reason-result relationship among them will be put forward. At the end
of all these, the actions and primary objectives necessary to reach the
ultimate goals will be tried to be determined.
