METU Northern Cyprus Campus Completes Orientation Days The orientation program, which was organized to introduce the campus and its facilities to newly, admitted students in the 2009-2010 academic year, commenced on 25 September, Friday. During the three-day program, the new students were informed about the campus by the orientation leaders. Throughout the orientation, the new students took part in various social, cultural and sports activities and were informed about the programs to which they were admitted. The club and society stands also informed them about the student activities that will be performed throughout the year. Day 1 of the orientation program started with a campus tour organized by the orientation leaders and the students learned the basics of campus and university life through a seminar, "Being a University Student", given by Prof. Dr. Ahmet ?nam, Chairman of the Department of Philosophy, METU. Along with the RadioMETU broadcast, which started at 17:00, the new students received information from the student societies' promotion stands. Following the parodies by the theatre club and a concert by the music club at the open air theater, the evening ended at 10:30 with a film by the cinema club. Day 2 of the program began with breakfast at 9:00 at the Culture and Convention Center foyer and continued with Campus President Prof. Dr. Turgut Tümer's opening speech. This was followed by a Q&A session and the introduction of the programs. After the lunch break at 12:30 the undergraduate programs were introduced by the METU NCC Program Coordinators and the Department Chairpersons from METU Ankara. The program proceeded with the introduction of the sports clubs at 17:00, which was followed by a barbecue party and a concert Koray Çapano?lu. On Day 3 at 10:00, the new students and their families went on a sightseeing trip with tourist guides. The students and their parents visited Lefke, Güzelyurt, Bellapais Abbey, Kyrenia Castle and walked along Kyrenia Harbor and had an enjoyable day. The Program ended at 10:00 with a film by the cinema club at the CCC open air theater.
